they are not making it easy to collect modern used U.S., perhaps used United States collections should end just shy of the "do not soak" era..to me mint U.S. postage if for sending correspondence !
It is too the point that I don't even worry about soaking the 2008's though I know which ones work well. The stamp just isn't the same when it is on paper. I wish if they were going to use an adhesive that doesn't work with stamps they would make the same with straight edges.
I wonder if collectors would have any impact if they stopped buying the mint stamps?
