Hello Everyone,

I'm a relatively "old guy" who has returned to collecting stamps in recent years. That's why my signature says what it does. From what I've seen, there seems to be a lot of that going on as people's lives quiet down (the grandchildren are someone else's responsibility)!

I started collecting world wide stamps in a Minkus Album when I was 8. When I set stamp collecting aside in 1973 after getting out of the Army, I was collecting British America and British Oceania in the Minkus albums published for these.

For some reason, U.S. stamps never did interest me very much. Not exotic enough, I guess. I liked the islands covered in those two albums so jumped to them in high school.

I still add to those two albums, occasionally, but since getting back into stamps three years ago, I have been collecting the world again in Scott Internationals (boy they're expensive now) with my cut off date as the year I stopped and thought I'd never come back, 1973 or International Part VIII.

Welcome modern_who! Nice to meet you. A lot of people here seem to have been collecting for some time now. I guess with this hobby, people seem to always come back to it. That's nice. I'm really new to this. I only started my collection about a month ago.

I don't read ads in Linn's Stamp Weekly very often. However, I was enjoying breakfast the other morning reading BOB ads (having alreasdy read everything else-new issue is late)I saw an ad for this forum. I have never been part of forum or blog. Looking forward to see how this works. I collect US and 1996 Atlanta summer olympics.Computers sometime baffle me...............I'll do the best I can. I saw a topic about oldest US stamp. I have Scott 1 as well as a Penny Black and other #1"s as a "sub collection". My wife says I don't collect stamps, I HOARD them! Over all she is very understanding and I love her for that. Anyway, here I am.
