Here is a 'registered' stationery cover I got out of the 50 cents dealer's box.

I found it quite interesting. I particularly like the "Thos. De La Rue" imprint under the gummed flap portion.

Nice covers !

The first one is from Transvaal though and not Orange River Colony. I'll see if I can find some more info on the to ZA covers.

The company of Thomas de la Rue was a major printer of security documents such as postage stamps and envelopes which they started producing in 1855 and bank notes which they started printing in 1860. Their security measures were top of the line and they were given many contracts to print such secure things for the UK and many of their colonies. They are still around today.

wow--they are so cool...

if I send you 50 cents will you snag me some newfoundland covers?

i wish I had a dealer box near me. every time I go to a local gathering in southern california, there are like a handful of Canadian covers, and when I ask about Newfoundland, I get a blank cow like stare...

question for you Canadian/Newfoundland collectors: If I were to plan a weekend somewhere I could go with cash to shop in stores or the like, where would that be? Toronto? Halifax? St Johns?
