This was another poorly listed and photographed ebay auction I picked up on and it seemed to pretty much go under the radar. Even at the end there only 2 people putting in late bids.

Only noticed 2 used stamps in the lot so far and the few mint stamps I've popped out so far have been mnh. I'll dig in more this weekend but this is just incredible that deals like this can be had.

Sorry if anyone here was bidding against me but I had a pretty good sized snipe set on it and became obsessed with winning it when it sat at $89 for 6 days. Took it home for $465.

Looks like the guy building the collection kept track of it's value a few times. This is written on the inside cover page:

I'm guessing the number on the right was the Scott # he was counting up to at the time.

Over the weekend I think I'll update his catalog prices :)

It also seems like maybe he was buying off center stamps at a discount as he put this together because there sure are a lot of them

Here it is:

Thanks!

I think I actually got the most excited when I flipped the page and saw the Kansas overprints and then the Nebraska. I've never had the whole set and still get excited whenever I pick up a single - whether I already had it or not LOL

The 95 seems very small, it might well be reperforated. Given the general centering, this is a lot that would bring about 12%-15% of catalog at auction.

Mike33,
I'm curious, how was this listed in ebay? Under what category?

It was under Stamps - collections - Lots but the seller only used the 12 standard photos instead of hosting his own. and only 4 of those pictures showed anything before 1940. Nothing specific in the description. no catalog value, didn't even mention they were unused.

But I liked what what I saw in 2 of his random pictures and couldn't stop wondering what was on the page after that, and after that, and the one before, etc.

Aside from what I scanned, it goes up to 1960 and the only stamps missing after 1935 are the $2, $5 Prexies and the $5 from the 1954 series. Everything mint

Only found 2 confirmed used stamps in the collection but a bunch of the early issues are regummed. Most of the stamps from 1900 and up are MNH.

Overall, I think this is the best lot I've found to date
