Here is an 1891 Belize, British Honduras cover with a bisect usage of a Queen Victoria
2 cent overprint stamp to pay a 3c rate.

It also has a COROZAL backstamp.

Does anyone else have any bisect usages on cover? Please post some pictures.

Cool covers guys. I am asumming that they where allowed to cut the stamps during that time to make them worth a lesser value?? They are very interesting, at any rate I will be keeping my eyes peeled now to see if I can run across one.

Yes, bisects refer to postage stamps that have been cut, usually in half, but sometimes into smaller
pieces and then used for a corresponding fraction of the value of the entire stamp.

Great covers philb - the second looks to be a stamp dealer's cover.

Wow beautiful Falkland Island classic covers, bobgggg!

This bisect usage of an 1851 12c black Washington is from the Seigel 2004 Rarities of the World
auction. It has a manuscript "Paid 6 Cts" next to the bisected stamp.

Bob, why is it that on both Falkland covers, someone used 2-half stamps rather than a whole one? Looks like they are all one penny stamps.

It is a little odd but remember everytime you use half a stamp you have a half left over. It could be the sender was just using up the left-over halves.

Phil:

I like the design along the bottom of the Guat cover to make it an airmail cover... small aeroplanes, big wings.... cool!
