Where is this from?
It is going to Daphne Alabama... Right down the road from
me here in Pensacola Florida. I can't tell where it comes
from. I found it in Dad's Coca-Cola collection post cards,
letterhead, and cover.

Daphne is a growing suburb of Mobile Alabama. Until just
very recently, it was a tiny little town. Now it is what
you would call a 'bedroom community' for Mobile.

At the time of this post card, it had to be hardly anything.

Looks Italian...

Bob, can you read it? Or do you just happen to know
that particular phrase? Just curious about the content
of the writing.

It appears to be from 1931. Do you concur?
If so, Daphne was probably lucky to have more than
1 or 2 hundred in population. I wonder what drew
Italians there. (thinking aloud)

Are the stamps anything to be excited about?
Is the post card? I don't know anything about post cards.

Thanks!

Hmmmmmmmmm...
In the late 1920s we had a monster hurricane.
Wiped entire small towns from the map, never to return.

I wonder if land opportunities were opened up, or maybe
work rebuilding those that could afford it... That'll
draw immigrants I'm sure.

Bet it's all about the hurricane.
(The Italian presence, not the content of the message.)

If my memory is correct Daphne was in fact settled by the Italians in either 1880 or 1890 as 2o families carved the city out of a pine forest. I think they started vineyards or some other type of fruits.

Queen Magherita sent gifts to the Italian colonist in 1898 for building church.

I know there is a plantation called Malbis right there
within a very short distance. I suppose this would fit
right in. Dayum... Now I have to research or it will bug.
