I have a cover from Sudan to Switzerland, with nice readable cancel of Tewfekia, does anybody know where this place is located? I went trough all maps but couldn't find this place, see scan, thanks for your help

I believe it was just north of Wadi Halfa, which will show up on current maps. This is very northern Sudan, right near the border with Egypt. There was a big British military presence in the area, and it was the start of a rail connection deeper into the interior.

It was commonly spelled Taufikia, and sometimes spelled Taoufichia or Taoufikia, as well. Here is a picture from 1906...note the ostriches...

Taufikia is located in the southern half of Sudan. This image is from a 1935 National Geographic map of Africa. A 1980 map does not show Taufikia.
