One interesting thing about this over or under inking is, the colors seem to be applied dry . Blue is the top color over the red yet if they were over or under ink wet that area would be brown . This seems to me that the examples pictured are a quality control issue rather than an error . Or possibly a reaction to the non archival plastic wrap . I read that one person received 50% of the examples he purchased has over or under inked. Any thoughts on this ? |

The valuable variety is the "grounded plane", but the wheels must be in the frame to be that variety. I remember an exhibit where someone arranged 12 examples like a clock and showed the plane in the twelve locations. |

I don't think the other 11 fetch a higher value. My opinion of course. If any one is interested in more info regarding grounded jenny : http://siegelauctions.com/exhibits/DP_Jenny.pdf***** Goal is to tie in the modern jenny stamp with the classic jenny stamp for discussion . ***** |

Yes, they all are sold in plastic by the post office. I bought and opened 2 of them from my local PO. |

But they are also put inside a regular envolope and I highly doubt that the plastic could have caused it. I would agree it could be a quality control issue but that does not mean it is not considered an error. They are definitely not what the a regular issue is suppose to look like. The bleeding ink seems really common but like I said the under inking on the arch seems to be rare. I have not seen one other example like what I have. If others have something similar please share yours. |

I do agree with you . I appreciate the discussion and your engagement to describe this stamp . I am not trying to disprove or prove your findings just trying to learn . Jenny 2013, I have not purchased this item. I purchase all US stamps towards the end of the year ... year book set. Perhaps this one as well . If you care to see another error / over inking look or what ever it is called ... go to search thread " $2 bobcat" . Your opinion would be greatly appreciated !

I typed in $2 Bobcat into the sites search box and only one thread popped up. If you have a link to the post you are talking about I will check it out. Thanks, Kris |

Kris, This months ( mean weeks Nov 4th) linns stamp news on page 3 has some comments from readers who purchased these stamps . While it is not about errors it does cover centering issues .
John

Just picked up a sheet of the Jenny stamps. I actually bought it at the USPS booth at Walpex here in MA. I asked the postal lady if everyone was asking to open up all of the packages: she said YES. So, you are all here with me, and I will now open up the package to see what is inside: OK, "normal" upside-down stamps, with major over-inking on 3 of the stamps. So, the USPS is spending money on: plastic shrink wrap, carboard backer, white envelope, white cardboard stiffener, and then the stamps, which they can't even print right. Oh well... |
