Actually teddy does not appear to have a safety over his lap.
Really he looks more like he is just "hanging" there and what is he looking at?
I'm glad teddy was removed...he just looks so wrong

Back to the "Just Move" stamps, here's another comment I hadn't read before now:

Quote:
"The stamps are on hold with the printer and we have not made a decision at this point, right now, with respect to how we are going to move forward," a USPS spokesman confirmed to The Daily Caller.

The spokesman said the USPS will likely decide what to do with the stamps later this year.

I am glad to have been a kid of the late-80s and early-90s. We must have been the last generation to have all sorts of less safe, non-paranoid fun.

We played tag, dodgeball, climbed trees, wandered wooded areas making 'forts', snuck 2-3 neighborhoods over to explore and ride our bikes, etc....definitely not as exciting as the chance of electric shock, but we still had fun.

The New Zealand teddy bear was removed because it showed the baby facing the front of the car. Regulations were that the baby should be in a rear facing position. Teddy removal made it look as though regulations were heeded.

I just saw an article on this, and I can't believe they're upset because the kid doing the handstand is not wearing a helmet. Of the three "problems" that is the most insane.

I don't usually post things like this, but since the mainstream media has got hold of the story and the majority of people think the destruction of these stamps is ridiculous, it didn't take too long for some creative types to parody some of the offensive stamps showing that it could have been a lot worse!

It is really a big stamp tease when they are about to release an issue showing how it would look like only to not issue it at all.

Scotzm,
How do you search for those over inked stamps? I would like to get a few if they are not too hard to find.

This link takes you to the WNS database which lists world stamps since 2002. Type in the country Austria and the year 2005 for the overprinted stamps and 2002 for the original.

Buying the overprinted stamps is a case of searching the likes of Delcampe auctions... I was buying them up over a few months and was the only bidder in some cases and got sets of used and mint for pennies. Now they seem to be priced at around 2.50 euro each stamp. Very under-rated issue and very artistic and, as I said previously, very collectible in my opinion.
Hope the USPS can do something like that with their JUST MOVE stamps. A friend of mine does presentations to young kids and I suggested using the Austrian overprint issue as MOST of the kids had no idea of the concept of stamp usage or collecting. The kids just were enthralled by the likes of the Austrian "zebra-cow" stamp...a great way to introduce kids to stamps.

While the "Just Move" Stamp subject has been beaten to death in local media outlets, I thought this 10/12/2013 NY Times article sums it up well:

Thanks for posting wt1.

More philatelic stories in the New York Times? Wow I like it! How many latent collectors interests have been rekindled from this main stream advertising.

One these Just Move sheets, maybe they will be destroyed and also accidentally released too in small quantities? Or, overprinted and drawn in as shown here?
