I am trying to decide what to do with 350+ US coil Plate Number Singles 1981-1997.

I do not specialize in PNS and my US collection is housed in National Albums; this means I would have to make new National pages and mount them. Yuck. Alternatively and although I already have these spaces filled in my US collection I could cherry pick some of the PNS and add just those to my US collection. Or I could leave this group alone and sell them to someone who is more specialized in PNS.

In making this decision I thought I would first try to figure out the value of this group of PNS. I have a 2012 Durlands catalog but it really only lists prices for coil strips of 3,5, or 6 (not singles). I think there are some rarer PNS singles in this group such as the #1908 plate number 2 shown below. Durland lists value as $600 for a strip of 5 and $35 for a strip of 3. So what would a PNS be worth?

I've searched on ebay and have not really been able to figure out how to price this group of 350+ PNS. Is there a catalog of other pricing reference for these? Or do I just throw them on ebay with no reserve and hope I get the cost of shipping covered?

Thanks in advance for input/opinions.

The Scott U.S. Specialized catalog has values for used plate number coil singles. Scott 1908 plate 2 has a value of $7.50 in the 2013 Specialized.

I advise AGAINST the Hebert. It is nothing more than a check list of information one can get from a Scott catalog. There are no rarity or scarcity markings factors. I bought one a few years ago for Scott 230-231 to know the ratites of different plates. They were all priced the same so useless. Too much trouble to return.

If you really want a Hebert checklist mine is pretty much unused paper three whole punched complete. Will send it for $15 postpaid media mail to anyone who wants it. Email me offline if interested.
