I've been surfing through the site for a couple of days, dipping my toes in the water and thought I'd make a big ripple by saying Hi. I am recently retired (2+years?)and find myself working on a collection started in 1962, stopped in late 60's and restarted in the mid 70's. My original album is an H.E. Harris Ambassador which still holds my interest. Over the last 20 years or so I have been focused on US mint (when affordable) and FDCs. I keep current by using the USPS Stamp Fulfillment Center and fill in the blanks by attending 1-2 local stamp shows or purchasing from on-line dealers (I have found one very reasonable $$wise)or friends & friends of friends. Since retiring I have been busy cataloging my collection. I hope to gain some information by participating with the SCF threads, offering what little I know, and just enjoying the conversation of fellow collectors. So hopefully I don't spend all my time surfing but doing all those 'retiree' things, but will attempt to visit frequently.

Welcome to the group!

My main collection is USA. I used to try to keep up with MNH for all the current USA stamps, but then it became too expensive. So now my USA collection from year 2000 on is mostly used with some mint when I can get them in trades. I also collect older (pre 1950 or so) World Wide Airmail stamps.
Another USA area I collect is PNC singles.

Best Regards,

Dave N.

Dave, US is getting very expensive. I make an end of year purchase of the annual but at over $150 it is getting tough on a fixed income.

Nice to meet you. Looking forward to future discussion.

Hello elegies, welcome to Stamp Community!

Mint is so beautiful to collect. I only get used mostly and have focused lately on cancels from Canada, and hopefully later on on USA modern cancels.

Good to have you here.

Doug

Hey Doug,

Glad to be here. The forum does make for good discussion. There was a time when used mixes (missionary bags)would provide many unusual and beautiful hours of soaking & cataloging. But now with the onslaught of issues worldwide, specific country collections are becoming the norm. Good luck in your area.

elegies to SCF. I'm looking forward to hearing from you as you share your knowledge with us. Your story sounds like mine and many of the rest of us. Returning to collecting after AWOL for many years.
