I'm pleasantly surprised that USPS has included photos of twelve Medal of Honor recipients on the selvage of the new MOH pane. According to the article below, ten of them are still alive. Two of of them, including Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, have died between acceptance of the design and its issue. A very classy way to honor these vets and still abide by the rule of not having living persons portrayed on US stamps. Kudoes to USPS!

Rumor had it early on that the stamp issue was going to depict these living MOH recipients on the stamps themselves, but when the idea of depicting living individuals on stamps didn't go through, the MOH images for the awards were placed on the stamps and the pictures of the MOH recipients on the "prestige folio" was the next best thing.

As for the number of living MOH recipients, the above news article is not exactly accurate, as there are 12 individuals pictured on the "prestige folio". Three (3) have subsequently died (Senator Daniel K. Inouye and Vernon McGarity died before the stamps could be issued; Nicholas Oresko died after the stamps were printed.) Those facts are contained in the 10-31-2013 Postal Bulletin.

[edited update] Unfortunately, the Fox News article is correct. Although the Postal Bulletin of 10-31-2013 reported that nine (9) Medal of Honor recipients were still living, this website reports that one of them, John D. Hawk, died on November 4, 2013, leaving eight (8) still surviving as of this date:
