Ah, but what if it contains all those early U.S. issues, 1 and 2 and the reprints, included? The zeppelins? And an inverted Jenny? And imperforate first issue revenues? All the earlies from those German States, as well as from the British, French, German, and other colonies? Great CV potential!

I bought my Scott album for 150 and it is very full. 10000 is just outrageous.

Strange situation.

I requested pictures, and on Saturday at 12:27, I received the message, "I believe I did but if that is important to you I will concentrate on that and get some closer pictures.. Going to it immediately.. Send them very soon... I am also researching some other material for you..."

What that means is open to interpretation; it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me at the time. Strange.

In the interim, note that he posted no new pictures at the auction site.

Later on at 9 AM, I received a new email: "I have all the items ready to send you for hours but I have not received your e-mail address to send the pictures of the pages you requested. If you send it I will forward them to you. Again my e-mail address is (removed)@buyonceclub.com Thanks"

For hours, but he did not request my email address, did he? I mean, if he had, I would have sent it. Stranger.

Then, later on yesterday (when I was out) there was another message: "If you send me your e-mail address I can send you the pictures you want!" This message would have been better for the first message, undoubtedly, but not as a last message. Strangest.

In any event the auction closed before I got these last two e-mails; so I have sent him a reply suggesting that perhaps he could still send the pictures, and I'll be sure to consider the item on relisting, or since he was selling with a BIN, he might be interested in making a proposal after I've seen the pictures.

I'm still thinking that the whole thing promises to be interesting, and will post the pics when (and if) they come so everyone can see what this guy's flogging at such a high price.

Should we do this to everyone who wants to give the hobby a black eye? Sure. Especially if the auction offer sounds funny.

buyonceclub? Anyone heard of it?

If anyone had actually bought it, I think it may have qualified as being "The $10,000 DORK Prize"....

I received an answer from the guy who tried to sell the 10,000 album- here goes: Tell me how you can even make a dumb statement like that without knowing what valuable stamps there are in the collection. You are extremely unadvised or a dumb Canadian. Regardless you are an so f--k off...idiot. You are not a jopie you are jerky----- nice man, huh!
