Went out and looked at the bookcase and I really do have a addiction. There were 36 White Ace (collections for the children when old enough), 8 Davo hingeless (personal collection), 2 Harris, 35 stockbooks(US accumulation), 4 topical (triangles, odd shapes), 2 White Ace (a personal set for definitive), 1 White Ace (Marshal,Palua,Micro), 2 binders (first flight covers), 2 Scott specialized (Central and South America), 3 sheet albums, 5 loose leaf (items to be sorted), 1 loose leaf (S.S. sheets). The previous are my collection. Now if I go into my office and start counting the albums to be broken down, that would be another ball of wax. Yes, I have reached that point in ones collection to start to thin some out. |

I have 7 German related (Scott Specialized), 2 Guatemala, 1 topical, 1 new U.S., and 1 miscellaneous. The vast majority of my stamps and covers are not in albums however. I keep them inventoried and aranged neatly in envelopes by Scott number in the red Amos stock boxes.

Is there a difference between an album and a stockbook? Because in German an album can be a stockbook as well and I don't know the English term for "Vordruckalbum". |

In the Netherlands it is the same as in Germany, an album can be both. But using the usual definition here, I would have four real albums (Davo hingeless) and about 30 stockbooks. Apart from that another 20 for the duplicates and trading material. |

Steve, that is one of the most unique methods of a stamp collection I have ever seen, is it possible because you are also a coin collector ??? In any case..it does not take up much room..i would hate to have to show you my "duplicates? stacks of plastic storage boxes a yard high !! |

Steve I use tins to store unsorted stamps. IMHO stockbooks can be used as albums too.
I don't know how many stamps that I have but the kilos have added both large numbers and doubles -triples -fourths -etc. LOL |

Wow. What an interesting exercise. There are at least 31 volumes. 16 cover albums for Naval covers and a bunch of others that I don't collect but, can't free myself of. There are 4 Scott International housing Part I & IIA. There are 4 small G&K binders for collections of Aden, Gibraltar, and Argentina. There are 2 G&K style binders with just extra miscellaneous pieces e.g. Souvenir sheets and blocks that don't fit on 102 cards. There is one for my Design Error collection. There are 3 old Regent Worldwide albums and a Harris US album. And, I'm looking at 8 large Albums waiting to broken down. And there are 21 "Red Boxes". Whew. |
