Quote: I think there is. In the Netherlands it is the same as in Germany, an album can be both. But using the usual definition here, I would have four real albums (Davo hingeless) and about 30 stockbooks. Apart from that another 20 for the duplicates and trading material. Ok, I only have one "real" album then - Bohemia and Moravia. Because I collect cancelled stamps with nice and "clear" cancellations, I usually have a lot of stamps more than once, so I prefer stockbooks - of which I got around 30 (40, if you count the small and thin ones I can't use for anything other than pre-sorting). |

Holy, Moley, Triggersmob! I remember seeing early on in the forum how you collect, but Wow, that's beautiful! I am a small fry here--3 Mystic US Albums, 6 stock books,2 three ring binders, one file box, one sorting lap tray, two magnifying glasses, and a "partridge in a pear tree"---sorry, just couldn't resist! Up to a couple of years ago, all I had was a Harris Senior Statesman, which I got from my parents for Christmas 1974 -- it was the burgundy and white version and was already ten years old when I got it; old stock I guess.
Then I started buying and bidding on collections, and as I did so, I added the newer pages in those albums to mine. My worldwide collection is now in seven (mismatched) binders. (Anyone got any extra Senior Statesman or Standard binders in good shape for a reasonable price?).
My Canada collection is in a Harris Canada album that is now taking up two binders.
My U.S. collection is in a Harris Liberty album that is now taking up three binders.
I have a White Ace Ireland album that is out of date, and I see I am going to have to order Volume II soon. Ditto on my GB collection which is in a Stanley Gibbons Windsor album, and my Australia collection that is in a Davo Australia album.
In addition to this I have two binders on the go for a U.S. Precancels collection I am working on. |

i can certainly relate to the mismatched albums except for the 8 Scott Internationals...its one thing I feel a little bad about..the look of the albums might belie the quality of the stamps !! |

It may look impressive, but if you compare collections, I am probably small fry too. I think I have about 20,000 stamps in there. Some of these guys carry that much in there back pockets. LOL Steve |

Keep my duplicates in cigar boxes Which I put the country name on front. All my newer stuff that I don't have an album for I also have in cigar boxes with A-Z letters. Have 200-250 cigar boxes. This is not counting other stuff in envelopes, trays, etc. trigger et al: if we all thought alike , it would be a really dull world. Of course there is some good in order and uniformity sometimes. (i.e., stamp catalogs {well, maybe bad example, "Scott, S-G, Michel,etc.). |

That is a very versatile way to collect Triggersmob. Changes or additions can be easily incorporated, great idea. As for collections with all matching albums, this would look great with mine but I probably would never remember where something was. Most of my albums came by what was the best deal at the time. And you always think your last purchase will be enough and no more will be needed. |

Because of fantastic Philatelic groups such as this, my stamps are in a total mess ! It never used to be that way....until I discovered the internet and these fantastic philatelic groups ! Most of my 'albums' are stockbooks or stocksheets in ring binders. I do have a couple of SG albums with Great Britain. I have 7 for my Cinderellas,6 for the flags. 4 GB albums,2 Bulgaria [plus a stack of album leaves not in binder]; 6 cover albums; 3 Israel; 3 Germany; and around 50 other albums of varying sizes housing worldwide stamps and covers/cards and all sorts of other stuff. Then there's that bottom drawer full of glassines, a few small box files, unsorted seals in binders and that secret place in the bedroom the wife doesn't know about.......... |
