I like your system Trigger. That's how most of my material is kept, except I'm too lazy to make cards so I buy them by the thousand. |

Thanks Greg & 1775mac. Being able to easily incorporate new stamps was my main reason for using this system. If I had known, 29 years ago, what I know now, I probably would have bought different cards too. It's too late to change now. Steve |

I have my 30+ albums colour-coded, along with my stockbooks for those selected collections. All my binders are Canadian made from either Unitrade Associates (1") in Toronto, or CWS (2.5") in Paris, Ontario.
My Costa Rica collection is in seven tan sued binders and a nice brown, faux leather stockbook.
My KGVI collection is in one red-coloured, fastbound King George VI "Crown" Stamp Album, with the varieties in six red binders and a red stockbook.
My U.S. Air Mail/Texas Air postal History collection is on White Ace pages in four blue-coloured 2.5" binders, four 1" binders, and one blue-coloured stockbook.
My U.S. Americana/1976-1995 collection is housed in eight grey-coloured 2.5" binders and one 1" black stockbook.
My Netherlands Indies/Indonesia collection is in five green-coloured 2.5" binders and one green-coloured stockbook.
My "Death on Stamps" collection has two black 2.5" binders, but nothing in them. There is one brown stockbook with the few items I have for this "just started" collection.
My Cardiology collection is organised in a maroon stockbook, and I have three maroon coloured 1" binders ready for the day I start to write-up the collection.
This is the way to be well organised and it allows me to readily access the material that I have, and greatly enhances my collecting pleasure.

Hi All,
I have Minkus All American album that is where it all started. I mainly use it to house some USA duplictaes now as I havn't completed moving the stamps to newer albums. I have a Harris Liberty album (up to 1992) that was my first "serious" album. I have a Scott Minuteman 1900 - 1999 (with pre 1900 suplement) I'm not real happy with it so am looking for a set of USA Scott National one day. I have a homemade binder/Album for my W/W Airmails I have a homemade binder/Album for my USA PNC Singles
Kind Regards,
Dave N. <>< |

Without going into detail, 17 worldwide, and two US Liberty albums. [ I dont collect US but I picked up the two albums at a flea market, loaded with stamps, for 20 bucks each ] |

I gave up using albums years ago because I couldn't stand looking at all the empty spaces. They seemed to be bugging me about not filling them up. Well, I wasn't about to be bullied by "The Great God of Completion," so I began making up my own album pages using quadruled heavy sheets which are still very reasonably priced. It takes a little extra work and a bit of artistic talent but if you ever become interested in exhibiting you'll have to learn how to do this. It can also be quite rewarding. And no more empty spaces. The real challenge comes from countries like Colombia whose every stamp seems to be of a different size than the next one, making layout much more difficult. Downloading pre-layed out page via computer is not quite the same thing. To keep costs down I buy good used binders at Thrift stores in our town. |

My main USA collection is housed in 5 American Heirloom binders. I have one additional American Heirloom binder for Back of the Book issues and another one just for Cut Squares. I have three Phoenix binders that I used for USA plate blocks, another Phoenix binder for large full sheets. I have a 3" 3-ring binder for Mail Early and Copyright blocks, a 3" 3-ring binder for Mr Zip blocks, a 2" 3-ring binder for small full sheets and booklets. I have a photo type album for entire postal envelopes, two photo type albums for entire post cards and a postcard album. My world wide collection is housed in 5 Phoenix binders. This is just for my personal collection. My stock and unsorted stamps fill a bedroom closet. |

Hi everybody. I haven't really been able to get on here and chat as much as I want. I have been doing the great job hunt lately.
As far as stamp albums, I only have 1 Scott national to 1994. Just small potatoes here I guess. I hope to update it to 2008 one of these days. Also, wouldn't mind starting a Germany collection one of these days.
I really like the Scott binders and heavy pages, but kind of expensive.I really enjoyed seeing how everyone stores their collections. You all have some great ideas I might be able to use to save money on storage costs. That way I can spend more on better quality stamps.
Take care, Ted |

MCSA you are right on..spend the money for the stamps..i have been told by old collectors over the years when you buy a collection pay for the stamps not the album....over time..people have given me free albums or I have picked up most of my 8 scott internationals at auction..probably averaging 40 bucks apiece with 1500 stamps or so in them..they are out there..check ebay worldwide collections..but do not be in a hurry to spend on albums..you can always use the black plastic stockpages for album pages !! |

I have about 3 albums , 99% Vario pages less than 1% G&K Pages (prefer Vario). 1 album is completely FDC from Cuba , 1 Album is Cuba 1855-1960's , 1 Album Cuba 1960's-present day. I also have 3 stock books , my collection consists of about (close to) 3000 cuban stamps without duplication.
I probably should divide my collection into more smaller albums , what bothers me is when my pages get caught up on the rings of the binder. Suggestions ?
What I've learned is to leave space in my albums , I catalog my stamps by Scotts #'s and have had to shift and rotate my stamps to make room which is time consuming. |
