I recently got these two Tobacco stamps from a friend and have no idea what they are as I don't have a specialized catalog. Could someone please give me an ID and perhaps what they was used for? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I never seen ones like these before? I know that they are obviously Internal Revenue Tax stamps but other than that I'm clueless? Thank you.

The tobacco stamps shown are not in the Scott Specialized Catalog. They would be in the specialized Springer Catalog. We've had a previous discussion about the Springer Catalogs at this link:

As far as your Half Pound Tobacco Stamp, it's Springer Catalog No. TF381 as shown at this link:

These were both Series 104, which was for paying the tax on those quantity packages in 1934.

Thank you all for the very informative replies. I knew that it was a revenue stamp but didn't know how it was used? They're too large to have gone over the top of a common cigarette pack so I thought maybe a seal on a cigar box but the weights indicated seemed to rule that out so I was left scratching my head? I was looking at listing for those Springer catalogs 1-5 and they are currently prohibitively expensive. I love that sort of specialized material and references but they are out of my financial reach at the moment. Thanks again everyone!

PS
Whatever happened to our friend REVSTAMPMAN? I haven't heard anything from he or Revenuecollector in quite some time? I miss them both. We do have revcollector however, though so I guess we're pretty fortunate!

These were used on tins of pipe tobacco. Revenue stamps for tobacco taxes were pretty specific, there were individual stamps for cigarettes, cigars, snuff, tobacco, and even some overprinted for chewing tobacco.
