Hello!

Hello, everyone. I've made a couple posts in other forums since registering here, but I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a worldwide collector, but currently focusing on Europe, particularly Germany and all related areas, Switzerland and Scandinavia. I'm 44 years old and live in Iowa. I collected as a kid as well as on and off again a few times as an adult. I picked up the hobby again about 12-18 months or so ago and have been pursuing it with great gusto ever since. I'm excited thinking about the collection I'll be able to build over the (hopefully) years and decades.

I buy a ton of mixtures, lots and kiloware - probably somewhere around a thousand stamps a week or more. Getting a new packet in the mail is like being a kid at Christmas for me. I love going through all the stamps, looking for any "finds", seeing which stamps I still need, which are upgrades, and sorting out the duplicates. I've managed to obtain most of the common stamps for my favorite countries this way and have recently begun filling in those harder to find items.

Anyway, looking forward to visiting here pretty regularly.

Welcome. I started my collection when I was a kid also. My grandmother gave me her album and stamps she had. Didn't really do any collecting at that time no money when I was a kid. But now have taken it off the shelf and started collecting.

Welcome to SCF. I know what you mean about getting new batches of stamps feeling like Christmas! I have my neighbours in my condo building saving stamps for me, every few days I pick up a little pile of stamps from the envelope I hung in the lobby. It's almost as much fun as getting a cheque in the mail. :)

Your story sounds a lot like mine, though I don't buy lots anymore because I have sooooo many stamps to go through now
