USPS has now corrected the issuance dates of the 3 global forever stamps to reflect their original dates, but, alas, not rectified the erroneous text about bearing the 2015 date.

Although this is an entirely different matter from the Global Forever Stamps, I thought this illustration taken from the USPS Facebook page about the Penguins "Additional Ounce" stamp was interesting.

Note the USPS comments about a "recurring glitch" that the USPS apparently chooses not to correct, but would rather confuse the stamp buying public instead:

I understand that it is quite common to see reference to an item being "discontinued" the day before the stamp is scheduled for release. One would think a "recurring glitch" like this would be unacceptable, yet it still happens.

Just goes to show the USPS Store's website is far from being perfect.

I wonder, as far as the general public is concerned, the amount of confusion they will cause with this issue. Joe Average is comfortable with the forever stamp but now he is adding a stamp without denomination to make up the weight difference. In fact the clerk thought that this too was a forever stamp! Our community is very aware of what is going on but I've also heard other people saying that the postage rate went up to 50 cents.

I am hoping to find one of these non-denominated additional ounce stamps used on cover. I am going to predict that these will be uncommon used correctly.

Not trying to be a smart aleck, but if a person regards a stamp with "additional ounce" clearly stated on it as a forever stamp, when the word "forever" is nowhere to be found, then he would not be Joe Average. He is Joe Knucklehead! (Although I'll admit that there are many knuckleheads in this world.)

I agree with a previous post that this isssue isn't going to be very popular at all. And why are there so many 2 ounce releases? It seems that this is all about wedding invitations.

I'm trying to make sure I understand the uses for these.

Assume I want to send a card that needs 71 cents in postage.

I could make the rate these ways:

1. a Forever stamp + the additional ounce stamp
2. using a single Non Machinable stamp
3. using a single 2 ounce stamp

I thought I had the uses right but always like to double check.

Every summer, some of America's favorite foods are in season. The U.S. Postal Service® celebrates a few of those favorites—corn, tomatoes, cantaloupes, and watermelons—with four new stamps. Vintage produce advertising, including 19th- and early 20th-century crate labels, seed packets, and catalogs, inspired these stamp designs. Though not all produce was shipped in wooden crates, the stamp art is especially reminiscent of vintage crate labels.

The four stylized labels are drawn in the same color palette of red, black, green, and yellow-orange. The produce names are in white lettering at the tops of the four stamps. The word "Forever" is enclosed in a banner centered along the bottom of the stamp; the letters "USA" are to the right of the banner.

After America's railroads linked the East and West Coasts in the 1870s, growers in agricultural areas could ship their products to locations across the country. To distinguish their wares from other producers, growers commissioned special crate labels from printing houses that employed some of the day's best graphic artists. The artists created designs that featured clever slogans and unusual styles, though the art did not necessarily relate to the produce inside. Illustrations might portray bathing beauties, historic events, landscapes, animals, or the grower's family.

Summer Harvest will be issued in a booklet format on July 11th and is available for preorder

Working with an early concept developed by former art director Richard Sheaff, Antonio Alcalá art directed these stamps. Michael Doret was the designer and artist.

The Legends of Hollywood Series of stamps will feature the Ingrid Bergman Stamp this year, which is set for an August 20, 2015 first day of issue. Note that it will be a joint issue with Sweden:

Ingrid Bergman issue should be very nice but I wish they had not decide to colorize it. Hopefully Piotr Naszarkowski will be engraving the Sweden issue. He did a great job with the Greta Garbo issue in 2005.
