The USPS put themselves in an embarrassing situation with regard to the 2015 Elvis Stamp. The image was supposed to have been kept under wraps for a media event and instead someone at the USPS posted the images to their website and it was quickly taken down -- but not fast enough for orders to be placed, images to be downloaded and basically the USPS ruined their own "unveiling" of the stamp.
Personally, the stamp looks to be okay, but nothing I'd go crazy over -- and I certainly don't expect any of the "excitement" over it or outrageously high sales as there was with the first Elvis stamp. Of course devoted Elvis fans may feel otherwise. |

More than a few Elvis fans have left the building since the last Elvis stamp. |

Placed an order today for a booklet of the Summer Harvest stamps, a block of 10 of the Postcard Forever stamps and a block of 4 of the Special Olympics stamp.
I found unused postcards when I was going through a tote last week and decided I'd get some of those new Forever postcard stamps this time. -MV |

The Elvis stamp is back online at the USPS Store for pre-order. They are also promoting a CD of a previously unreleased Elvis song available only in post offices: Quote: The Postal Service is proud to announce the offering of an exclusive CD of 18 Presley hits titled, ELVIS FOREVER, which includes a new performance of Elvis' inspiring song "If I Can Dream" as you've never heard it before. "If I Can Dream" has been selected from a forthcoming Fall 2015 Elvis Presley album release. Customers can get this track first by picking up a copy of ELVIS FOREVER at their local Post Office location... http://about.usps.com/news/national...pr15_041.htm |

wt1 thanks for 3rd qtr. USPS catalog. In looking through the issue, and the USPS Home site there was no mention of a foreign authority joint issue item available from USPS. I am hoping that this is because of the 8/20 issue date and the other issuing authority has yet to provide information to the USPS for publication & ordering. (or am I going to need to find another source for the non USPS issue items?)(or am I nervous Nelly?)) |

If you're thinking about the Bergman issue this thread has already posted some information about it. I spoke to a cachet maker over the weekend at the Minnesota Expo and she said it is going to be treated like the Japan issue so joint cancels will be available. I'm ready for this one as I have or ordered all my tie in stamps. |

I'm ready for this one as I have or ordered all my tie in stamps. This particular issue falls outside the topical focus of my collection. But I am curious about your "tie in" choices. Is Bogart (SC 3152) one of them? You might look for some 3152 FDC's with a Casablanca theme and create a "combo" with the new Bergman stamp. I'm doing this for the upcoming USCG stamp (which, with the helicopter, fits somewhat in with my aviation topical collection). I have already acquired a number of FDC's for previous USCG issues (SC 936, as well as two postal card issues). Depending on the cachet, I'll tie in other stamps also. |

I have some further information about the Bergman stamp but I can't post it publicly. If you're interested you can pm me and I can tell you with the assurance you won't post it. |

Yes I'm using Bogart along with Max Steiner and a movie poster of the film for Casablanca. I'm doing another with the Spellbound poster, Gregory Peck, and Alfred Hitchcock. For Whom the Bells Toll will have Hemingway and Gary Cooper. Suspicion will have Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock. Finally The Bells of St. Mary will have Bing Crosby. And maybe we can trade. |

sdtom: (back from MD) I was asking if the Bergman stamp would have the foreign agency issuance available through the USPS since it is a joint issue. I looked at the USPS.com site & received the USPS catalog but they had no information on that. It's the Swedish (?) postal agency items I'm looking to acquire. I am starting a side collection of USPS joint issues and want to at least keep current (and try to catch-up past issues)(If you could privately advise I can assure there will be no publication in this (or any) forum. |

eligies: I'm not sdtom, but I can suggest that you refer to the latest Postal Bulletin (7-23-2015) page 66 wherein stock numbers are provided for the following Ingrid Bergman joint issue products:
473317: Joint First Day Cover, set of 2 (1 US and 1 Sweden) @ $7.56 801216: Sweden Strip of 4 stamps (2 designs) @ $7.95
If my understanding is correct the foreign stamp availability will be in line with what was offered for the US/Japan Dogwood Trees joint issue earlier this year. |
