The problem with what the USPS has done is to lessen the visual impact of the third Medal of Honor introduced just after the Korean Conflict. For the short time the Air Force had been in existence up until that point, Air Force recipients wore the Army (?) version. The new medal gets lost in the mix of twelve stamps in the 2015 issue.

This has to be a collector problem because I think the average consumer is clueless. They just see a military medal of honor.

Picked up the Coast Guard sheet last week... then STUPIDLY forgot the 2 sheets in the hot car for a few days... OOOOPS! Hoping the heat didn't effect the adhesive... (afraid to look!)

I also like the new "seed packet" stamps. Simple, bold, retro design.

Still haven't gotten my release yet on the Coast Guard stamp. It's almost a week past the release date yet others have picked them up at the post office.

I usually await till I reach a $100.00+ mark before making an order from Kansas City. I have been waiting since the Rate Change stamps (e.g. Tulip. birds, etc.) but am awaiting the Elvis & the NYC Stamp Show 2016 issue before I make the order.

Regards,

On the 12th I walked into a PO and said "Elvis day?". No one had put the Elvis stamps out for sale, she thought. She also said they sure didn't supply them with many sheets. I bought 3; split one to give to my sister & brother (Elvis fans), and I will keep one, use one. I seriously doubt this will be a Silver Bullet for the USPS like the first Elvis stamp was. It is a nice stamp, but think about what happened to Bing Crosby as his fan base died off. What 20 year old even knows who he was? Same is happening to Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and I assume also Elvis. Shame, but as time passes, so do the memories of popular performers...

I can possibly understand why the youth of today do not know of Bing (other than the movie White Christmas), but as for Sinatra (immortalized by the song New York), the Beatles (songs still being remade and used in advertisements), and finally Elvis (with all the impersonators around) will never be forgotten.

As I suspected, Sweden is issuing a s/s of Ingrid Bergman as well as a "Collectable Set" along with the announced FDC and two coil stamps.

Bing Crosby's biggest hit song his career was his recording of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas", which he first introduced on a Christmas Day radio broadcast in 1941. The song then appeared soon after in his 1942 movie "Holiday Inn" With 1,077,900,000 movie tickets sold, Crosby is—by that measure—the third most popular actor of all time, behind Clark Gable (1,168,300,000) and John Wayne (1,114,000,000). The Quigley Publishing Company's International Motion Picture Almanac lists Crosby in a tie for second on the "All Time Number One Stars List" with Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, and Burt Reynolds according to Wiki.

I agree acanalizo, Bing Crosby's career is exceptional thereby dubbing him as one of the Greats, I love his films.

It is a shame though that knowledge of his work does not endure through to the young of this day (unless they are scholars of fine film).

Additionally, thank you eyeonwall I love the name as well.

We should soon be getting more news on the rest of this year's issues (and perhaps a small peak into next year) as the USPS will be meeting with the media at the big show in Grand Rapids MI next week.
