My Name is Joseph. I live in the United States. Specifically Oklahoma. I was introduced to stamp collecting 40 years ago by my Grandfather. When no one else wanted his collection I
inherited it. I was serving in the Military so it stayed with my parents due to many years of moves and different duty stations. I am once again having a chance to appreciate all of his stamps as well as those that I have added.
I will say that going through over 10 thousand stamps is both exciting and arduous at the same time. I can say I truly appreciate stamps regardless of their "worth", since I believe all have a story to tell. Although, one of my fondest experiences was seeing and "holding" a US Scott #613 (yes, I know what that is, yes it was expertised, yes it is on the census - no, I did not own it, it belonged to a friend of my Grandfathers - many years ago). I still think that seeing and holding it was really darn cool.
Lately, I have been giving some that show US history to schools to use as teaching aids. I find that some of the kids really appreciate the history when they realize that someone was able to communicate via post, all by using a stamp.
Anyway enough about me. Let my true education begin!
