It is official I have received my membership to the International Society of Guatemalan Collectors. My number is 979. I am looking forward to my first copy of "El Quetzal" I am hoping to expand my limited knowledge of the beautiful stamps of Guatemala !! Thanks to lots of folks here and the help I have gotten. ! You guys are the best
Rick, don't thank us yet..it gets pretty deep..they get into the German coffee growers and the railroad builders and the dictators..its amazing the history that comes out of that little land from when the Spaniards landed..not too much Mayan correspondence before that..well most of that is in rock !!
Rick you reminded me...i better pay my dues if I want to get the March issue...i am #853 and I joinned in 1998..so you can see its a pretty select group...i may not get over to the great wall of China but I do think that its fairly realistic that I will make it to Guatemala one day..i will contact members there before I go..i asked some to the members who live there on a part time basis about how safe it is..and they said you have to be careful....in other words go with someone who knows their way around...
