Reading addresses and sorting mail on a moving bus. Doesn't sound like a fun job. I think I would have gotten carsick. I wonder what the inside looked like and how many people worked in it. |

I have been considering adding HPO's to my route 66 collection. Those are very nice looking cachets. thanks for sharing. HPO's were a new concept for sorting mail, much like RPO's years earlier. I think I have a HPO cover from an HPO exhibit at the IL State Fair with a brochure explaining it. Now I just need to find it.  |

I've always wondered about the "Trip 2" in the cancel that also has "First Trip" ??

The pamphlet is very interesting!  It is a little blurry, though, and I can't make out all the text. It says that in addition to the driver, there were one or more "Postal Transportation Clerks" in the back sorting mail. |

The idea was to actually sort the mail while it is moving toward its destination to save time.
Stampdude - could you post some better scans of the text on the your pamphlet?
