A real "hodge podge" of used US stamp types, nothing rare from the looks of it....a few are low demoniations from the Columbian Expo series with heavy cancels. What are the annotations meant to signify? John

The notations were valuations done in the 1960's which was
predecimal (pounds shillings and pence) in Australia at that time

Welcome to SCF, Steveo

I will type out those that are notable for you ...

The top two rows, and the 3rd stamp on the 3rd row are from the 1913 "Parcel Post" series that was short-lived and is quite popular with collectors. Scott catalogue numbers and values for "very fine" copies are

Q1 (1c) - $1.50
Q2 (2c)- $1.25
Q3 (3c)- $5.75
Q4 (4c)- $3.00
Q5 (5c)- $2.25
Q6 (10c)- $3.00
Q7 (15c)- $13.50
Q9 (25c)- $7.50
Q11 (75c)- $35.00

Row 3 Walloon issue of 1924

# 614 (1c) - $3.25
# 615 (2c) - $2.25

Rows 4, 5, & 6
Columbian expo issues of 1893

#230 (1c) - $.40
#231 (2c) - $.30
#233 (4c) - $7.50
#234 (5c) - $8.00
#237 (10c) - $8.00

Overall condition is poor to average and retail values are about ~10% of catalogue values.

The remaining stamps are VERY common and worth only pennies.

Brian

Value is subjective, of course. Someone may see something they like in this lot and be willing to pay more than the average collector. If I leave you with one thing it's this - regardless of "value", these stamps are still popular and collectible. I know many collectors of US stamps who don't have a Q11 (75c Parcel Post).

Cheers!

Me, too! In fact, it is interesting that the 75c Parcel Post Stamp has a box cancel postmark that seems readable. I think it reads Lakeville, Mass.
