My aunt recently passed away. When cleaning out her house we found hundreds maybe thousands of stamps. Some from the late 1800's through 1990's. Some of the older stamps are still attached to postcards and letters. I really don't know anything about stamp collecting and don't know if they are worth anything. Any suggestions?
You need to give people an idea of what's there. What countries? Are the stamps used or unused? Are they in folders, albums or just loose in a box? Whatever you do, do not remove the stamps from the envelopes or cards. If some of the material is Canadian you can write to me c/o this site and I will advise you on that part of it.
Don't get in a hurry to do anything with the stamps. Whatever you do. Don't send them to any stamp company trying to sell them. They will only give you pennies on the dollar. You will get a lot of good advice here at SCF. Take it all in before you take any action. By the way CanadaStamp welcome to SCF "Stamp Community Family". All the way from Northern Michigan.
Thank you for replying to my post. Stamps are just loose or attached to old postcards and old letters. There are some from Canada, Austria, Mexico, Panama Canal, China or Japan, USA. There are a lot of them from WWII. Some air mail. Most are cancelled stamps, some of the older ones are postmarked from towns that no longer exsit in the USA.
