Hello my name is Michelle I am not a stamp collector but I am a collector of vintage handbags! I have found an old stamp in a bag and I am just looking for some information on it and if it is desirable? I would appreciate any help you could give me #128522;

It is not that old, and is of minimal value. And as it is pre decimal it can't even be used for postage s'far as I know.

Hi Tinkers, welcome to SCF, this stamp is called a 'wilding', they were the definitive stamps used from the year 1952 to 1971, the picture on the front is of Queen Elizabeth II, there are 18 values of this type of definitive stamp, this being the 5th lowest, it does not have any value really in todays market unless it has graphite lines on the back (a black strip or 2-kind of like tram lines), or if it has inverted watermark's, if they have any of these 2 then they sell for 10p-£2.00 on ebay and places like that, as always it just depends on the day who wants the item the most, (to complete a set etc), I hope this information was of help to you, if you need any more help please post again,Take care,

Welcome Michelle. Also even if your stamp was desirable it is badly damaged. It's creased very badly so no value what-so-ever. If you find anymore stamps please don't wrinkle,fold or crease in any way or you will effect any potential value. Cheers -Jeff

Hello Tinkers, welcome to Stamp Community.

Here is a complete set, no varieties, just plain Janes stamps, of the 1958 Great Britain (GB) QEII (Queen Elizabeth II) Wilding set of stamps, selling for between $2.00 and $3.5 on the American BidStart web site.

May be more on ebay or in Great Britain (England) or Europe. Nore when mint, brand new from Post Office of course.



So, each one is not worth much, but like mentioned check for the back watermarks pressed into the paper or the shades of colour or whatever is mentioned on on-line sites like the above or specialized sites or in paper printed catalogues for varieties as they can be worth quite a bit more at times.


Keep looking! Don't throw the used ones out, keep them for used collectors like me and cancel / postmark collectors and all of that, like me again. Or many others too. Keep searching.

You learn a bit here and a bit there and ask like you have and after a while you know enough to get a deal and sell for some money. Neat.

Or start collecting yourself. Heh, heh.
