My opinion of Stampoffers...i was on the owners little stamp chat about 9 years ago before it branched into an auction..it was much smaller than SCF mabe 4 or 5 of us and we would be on all hours of the day and night...anyway..its a place where a collector can buy the stamps for 6 or 8 cents that the dealers do not want to bring to the stamp shows...i enjoy listing my duplicates there..you can not count the time spent scanning and listing ..but when I sell something I just put the money back into stamps..i am a Stampoffers lifer !!

Sales at Stampwants are great sometimes and I like some of Stampoffers but he really needs a upgrade on his search function as it is soooo long.

I checked out StampOffers, and if I remember correctly, he charges
$.75 for a gallery image and no one uses them except him since he
is the owner so it costs him nothing.

This is, in my opinion, very poor business strategy (but he probably
isn't really in business). The competition, ebay and StampWants don't
charge for a gallery image. He wants $.75 but no on buys them to list
their nickle and dime stuff. I mean, who is going to spend $.75 to
maybe make a a dime or a nickel if something sells. If he were to make
gallery images free, his site would look better and in all
probability attract more users, and even if he didn't charge
insertion and final value fees, get more hits on something like
google ads on his site. He could have his hobby site and probably
cover his hosting costs and make a little money too.

IHOBBS is very competitive, now if someone wants to beat their prices for the same grading and return policy I'm all ears.

OK...I looked on the link that was provided by Mkfarm

I went to the 2009 issues.

Each stamp is listed at 2 x face value

Wouldn't one be much better off if they went to the Post Office ?

Or is this site catering to non US collectors ?

Re: Stampoffers
A work in progress
I have been with Stampoffers for about four years.
If I may ,I would comment on the following:

Quote:
he charges
$.75 for a gallery image and no one uses them except him since he
is the owner so it costs him nothing.

The owner "James" Posts about 100 items per year.
with no re lists, there are many others that use this feature,
Myself included.

Quote:
He wants $.75 but no on buys them to list
their nickle and dime stuff.

This 0.75c helps to defray the costs of operations and upgrades.
Plus it is a window to a store.
the feature also re lists up to 140 days (at no extra charge) or until the lot is sold.

Quote:
his site would look better and in all
probability attract more users, and even if he didn't charge
insertion and final value fees

Probably Correct.

This is A Problem that is recognized and hopefully will be addressed in the future.
Having said all this, I am sure all "Stampoffer" Members appreciate thise comments.
