Sorry to bother you all, but I'm new here and just figured out there are separate categories. Us Classics is where I belong. I think I might have ruffled some feathers on the new issue crowd. It won't happen again, "I hope" I'm finding this site hard to navigate is there anyone that can help me out. I'm kind of lost.

Hehe, no bother. There is quite a large and sophisticated US classics group here. If you are looking for articles regarding a specific subject, you might be best served by clicking on the "Home" button and picking the area you are interested in. Also, the "Active" button shows which topics are active by category (including Classic US Stamps). Of course the "Recent Topics" menu at the bottom will list recent topics, regardless of category. Hope that helps. |

Thanks Guys, I guess I'll learn it by osmosis, but it's nice to have found a new home, were I can talk stamps to people that understand, I was getting tired of the same ole senario I'd say "Look I found a bla bla bla and she says "that nice Dear" Years ago 30 that is. I tried to get her interested. I put a copy of # 444, 453, 454 and 455 in front of her and showed her the difference, her response "Is this how you spend your time" and said it was stupid so I'm just saying I'm glad to be home. |

Wash500, Greetings: As a relative newbie, I've been climbing the navigation learning curve myself. My notes:
My 'first stop' is always [Ctrl-End] [Page-Up] to [View Last 100 New Topics].
Next, the adjacent [View Last 100 Active Topics] ... if someone is giving an old thread a bump, it'll be here ...
At first, I made liberal use of the [Topic Subscription] button, getting eMails when a new reply was posted under an existing topic. I found this less useful than I had hoped, because:
1) most topics die-out (are exhausted?) pretty quickly ... somebody posts an unknown, a coupla quick-draws (eg wt1) will identify it, and that's all she wrote ... you are still subscribed, but the tree never falls in that forest again, so you still don't hear it. But a topic subscription is the single best way to ensure that a dead topic stays dead without having to re-visit it.
2) many topics get a new post every coupla days - [Collecting By Engraver] comes to mind - so you get a lot of eMails which you will not need if you are regularly sweeping [View Last 100 Active Topics]. But this will not satisfy if you want to read every post, one-by-one, while they are still fresh.
For some of the forums, and some of the very long topics, I maintain my own SCF Return'n'Read Some Day Reading List; I cut'n'paste the URL to a spreadsheet and, just to be totally over-the-top about it, note the date of my last visit. YMMV.
Lately, I finally screwed-up my courage, and clicked on the orange starfish bookmark button. Not entirely sure how I feel about that one yet, but I am sure that SCF would benefit from a 'random topic' button.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey |

Thanks ikeyPikey, that's all good info. I'm not sure what all of it means yet, but a darn good reference Thank you. I'm sure an ah ha moment will come quickly. |
