I re-iterate the color on the stamp is more pink than rose when held beside other stamps, it just does not seem to come out in the pictures. I really should pull it off the auction and send for a certificate. |

Stallzer, that stamp is listed as an auction starting at $99. I do not think I would part with it for any less, no matter what your opinion is. Just trying to find a similar stamp is worth more than $99 of my time. |

Again, you come here, ask a question, numerous people with way more knowledge than you'll ever have tell you what it is, you don't like the answers so you lie in your listing hoping to snag some uninformed buyer.
Just sad. |

I have a few stamps from the era, and that certainly doesn't make me an expert. I do however have BS meter, and I'm getting pretty good with that. |

Stallzer, I do not lie on any listings, but by you saying that I do makes only you a liar. |

OK I said this stamp has some lines in the UL corner. Is this dishonest? |

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Believe me, this is not personal and I would say the same to any other attempting to Make similar sales.
I will post no more on your sales since I think the cat's already out of the bag. Not one reply on how spot on you are with your valuations. |

For proof of this anomaly's insignificance just read in Brookmans' "Postage Stamps of the 19th Century" Vol II. where it's discussing the Scott "Blackjack"; more specifically the "Atherton shift" it depicts a double and even triple transfers with almost identical (and shift unrelated) selvedge markings as you show and they aren't even mentioned! The book goes on to speculate that during this time of war it was supposed that many skilled workers were pulled from their stamp printing duties for the war effort and add the rush to get them printed on top of that and you'll see many items like this with a little patience. It is interesting but that's really it. no huge premium and would NEVER EVER sell for 99 bucks.. that's just laughable. I'd have to side with stallzer here and so should you, he's a very educated man on this era and I respect his word immensely so. Let's just put this topic to bed shall we? P.S. Really man?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...271529691331Re-listed for $249.00 ????? |
