There was fashion at this time of the dual purpose hat. lol Seriously! I had some old magazines from the turn of the century and there was just pages of that exact kind of stuff eg: wastebasket/hat, etc...

You know, I didn't even see the waste basket hat until you mentioned it. I was paying more attention to the rose hip flowers and the rose hip girl to see the similarities.
