stampcrow... I was watching this stamp for a nail-biting-week and was competing with another bidder... I'll admit I'm a risk taker, but only to the extent whereas the means justifies the extremes... the bottom line is... if you're serious enough about something you deem important enough for your collection, then there are pricepoints and risks involved... something which we learn and live on an ongoing basis in our business lives...
I don't sell stamps on
ebay, nor have any plans to in the near future (just hard drives:hint)... albeit I've acquired many duplicates over the years as I've upgraded my collection (and will continue doing so) at any cost that I deem reasonable, irrespective of catalogues or expertizers...
Beauty (and quality) are in the eyes of the beholder... all at a relative cost...
Lastly, if you thought I paid $100 for the stamp, please read back up at the top... I paid $1.80 for it... if you're unaware what a 'snipe' is... it's a a high proxy bid placed by
ebay on behalf of the buyer up to their maximum bid... (usually a high price the buyer wouldn't really want to pay in the real world), but accepts if necessary if he/she wants the item badly enough...
