When sorting through accumulations, stamps like this just jump out. This one will be added to my album.

A touch to the left and a touch to the bottom, but a very nice example.

Yes it is. The wavy cancel plays with the eyes a little bit. The perfs are pretty nice. Overall it's better then the stamp its replacing because of the cleaner cancel.

I bet that grades 90J, shot 95J.... it'd almost be worth sending to PSE depending on what SMQ is.

According to PSEs SMQ...
Assuming this is a #331...
90J cv$55
95J cv$175
Assuming a #374...
90J cv$75
95J cv$150

stampcrow....
when you scan...always use a black background (Vario sheet)
The stamp is easier to see.

Kevin504, will do.

I don't know which watermark it is. I still haven't picked up any fluid. I was just going to mount it as a nice used example of the ONE CENT Franklin.

orstampman, this accumulation I bought at a general auction a few weeks back. It's been a blast! Nothing Earth shattering but certainly some new additions for me.

This example is off on two sides, so a grade of 95 is just a dream, and even a 90 seems unlikely. This is the kind of stamp that some people jokingly call an 87.5; a bit better than an 85 but not really a 90.

87.5 sounds like a radio station. I haven't had anything certified since starting this hobby. I guess this wouldn't be first choice to be my first cert. But maybe I would submit it with some other pieces next time I'm in NYC.
If I could get them to give it an 87.5 it would be pretty funny.

That's what I like about accumulations - you never know what you will find - like a garage sale. The hunt is a large part of the fun.

Personally, I hate grading. It's for people who collect certificates and can say "my collection of certificates is better than yours". I think most collectors would be very happy finding and owning this stamp without caring about a grade. They would simply say 331 or 374, I got you covered.

I'd take it, I don't care what grade they would give it.

Found this in the same lot as the Franklin. These make the used pages look nicer. For me the only negative is the black smudge at the top.
