New old guy here, like most, I've been collecting for a long time, first started in 1953, when my grammer school teacher introduced me to stamp collecting. Not that I been collecting ever since, I have gone the route of most folks, collect for a time and then stop, only to pick it up again later, each time focusing on a differnt aspect. At first I tried to collect the world, but soon relalized what a huge task that was. About 15 years ago I finally settled on a smaller field to collect. I collect U.S. only. The Banknote Issues, the First Bureau Issues, National Parks/Farleys, and U.S. Officials and the Special Printings of the Officials. I aslo collect the postal history of two California Counties, Humboldt and Mendocino.
Greetings from a brand new member who lives in the mountains of western New Mexico at 8,000 feet above sea level. You sound a lot like me as far as stamp collecting goes; about 2-3 years younger than me perhaps. I mostly collect Canal Zone, but do like EFO's, especially coils, and early US including Revenues and the like.
Isn't this a wonderful site? Wish I had stumbled on to it a lot sooner! Have a great day!
