Ok I normally am able to locate a stamp within the US specialized identifier but for some reason and it could be due to my old age and eyesight I do not see a Perf 11 coil for the 3 cent washington A140. Am I missing something, just trying to figure out scott number. I see the below for coils
389 perf 12
445,456,489.493,494 as perf 10
394 as perf 8 1/2

I dont see perf 11. I have checked it numerous times. Thus is this a fake? The margins and perfs look ok but the measurement is off.

I know I am missing something simple.

Thank you for your help and guidance to this old dog....

You are correct ... there was no perf 11 coil. This appears to be a Type I, Scott 501 with natural straight edge on the bottom and trimmed perfs at the top.

Cheers!

Stamp is an Scott 529 or 530 offset type III or type IV, probably the latter. The stamp is a bottom straight edge with the perforation trimmed at the top. It is clearly an offset printing, no question whatsoever. A larger and better scan would be needed to be sure about the type.

thank you 2 for the direction that I have top perfs trimmed off and a straight edge on bottom. I guess I should have thought that when no perf 11 coil existed. Thanks for the help.

Respectfully,

Richard

I have more to learn, it seems, on distinguishing the printing types! I think it is a type III - the 'P' and'O' are not linked together as in the Type IV.

Agree that this is an offset issue, either Scott 529 or 530, trimmed at top.
