I appreciate stamps, needless to say, and I think I would appreciate them more if I understand the subtle differences among them. Can anyone give me an education on these Lady Liberty and U.S. Flag 2011 regular issue stamps? I have completed the page out of my US mint 2011 album. Are there differences among these stamps? If so, what are they? Thanks in advance to all that respond to this thread.

The primary difference is stated on your album page ... the microprint. 4559-60 (APU) are microprinted 4evR. 4561-62 (SSP) are microprinted 4evr. 4563-64 (AVR) are microprinted 4EVR. You'll find the microprint just above the tuft of hair at the right of the head on the Statue of Liberty ... and on the bottommost red stripe of the flag, just to the left of the center of the stamp.
In addition, the perf gauge is a bit different on the AVR stamps. 4559 thru 4562 measure 11.25x11 while 4563-64 measure 11.25x11.5.

JLLebbert,

You are incredible! I've been perusing these stamps ever since I bought them using a magnifying glass and I could not find those microprints. (I think I have to go to my eye doctor soon!) Thank you for the very informative response.

You might also want to add that 4559-60 "4evR" microprint was printed by Ashton Potter (APU); 4561-62 "4evr" microprint was printed by Sennett Security Products (SSP) and 4563-64 "4EVR" was printed by Avery-Dennison (AVR).

Also, don't forget that in order to complete the booklet varieties you'll need to include Scott #4518-19. Those stamps were issued in ATM18 format a few months earlier (04/08/2011) than those shown above that were issued later that year (09/14/2011).

Another question about these . (My Scott specialized ends in 2009.) How do you distinguish between the 2010 & 2011 issues ? The ones I have in my album for 2010 have a 2011 date. I also have a booklet pane of 8 that has a 2010 date on it , but the stamps have a 2011 date. Both 2010 and 2011 have the same three different micro printing combos. Perfs maybe ?

Much of this has been discussed at length in a previous thread. Checkout the link below:

The 2010 stamps were coils ... the 2011 were booklets.
