Hello,

I ran into this stamp which appears to be stuck to a beige/yellow background, both of which are anchored underneath a glass pane that serves to protect this stamp.

This stamp is one of five stamps that appear within a picture frame entitled, 'Emergency Wartime Coinage.' For what it's worth seven US coins from the 40s also are present.

I decided not to remove this stamp from its current location unless I find out that it is the more expensive version.

Please classify this stamp with the customary verbiage indicating what the approximate value would be in its current state.

Thanks,

I also am providing a cross sectional photo of some of the other stamps adjacent to the 'Win The War' stamp: all of them still under the glass

The 3 cents purple-colored Imo Jima stamp on the top right part of this photo could be used to assist in identifying the correct shade of the of the 'Win the War' stamp.

I understand that the color shade of this 'Win the War' stamp is critical in identifying the more expensive version.

I am unsure, however, if the more expensive version must have a cancellation mark on it.

"All examples of 905b are precancelled either Los Angeles, Calif., or Fremont, Ohio..." from the Scott USA Specialized Catalog.

Since yours is not precancelled, it cannot be Scott #905b (purple).

Just for the record, if this stamp did happen to possess the correct cancellation mark, would the color shade of this stamp shown in this thread be an accurate match for the 905b?

Impossible to tell from a scan. As the precancelled rarity is worth a lot of money (the Fremont precancel being quite rare), it would be wise to get a certificate from a recognized authority. Since #905b's must contain either a Los Angeles or Fremont precancel, the question is moot anyway. Just for kicks, in the color sense, search for "905b" in the USA section of ebay, and you will get images of actual, genuine 905b stamps to compare colors... John
