I've been searching for recipes for dishes to go along with crow. Humble pie has been suggested as a fitting end to that meal.

I misrepresented the relationship between the stamp I had purchased from nystamps and one they were offering recently. I was able to track down an image of the stamp I bought and returned, and it is clear on comparison that it is not the same stamp as the one they just sold. So I need to apologize to nystamps for misrepresenting the situation, and also to Bill Weiss and anyone else who acted in any way, or planned to act, on the misinformation I had given. In future I will be careful to have accurate images for comparison before I make any claims of this sort. Failing that, I will feel constrained to keep my peace.

To anyone who was misled by my comment then, or now, please accept my apology.

Despite having written a number of philatelic books and numerous articles over my career, I am not a huge fan of using the printed word as the best method of communicating, simply because one's *tone* can not be "heard" in the written word. The result is that very often, words can come across as being, for example, much more harsh than was intended. That is what happened when I asked Essayk why he had not reported that stamp that nystamps was selling that he believed was the same one he bought and returned months before? Even though I started by saying gently "may I respectfully ask....." it still obviously came across as being demanding and critical. I did jot intend it to "sound" that way. So for that I apologize to Essayk who is certainly one of this venue's biggest assets!

And to wrap up the story of that 90c stamp sold by nystamps, I had indeed contacted them and offered essayk's apology to them, which they graciously accepted, thus ending that situation.

Also, in the way of "happy endings" the owner of the fake coil that started this thread has removed it from ebay, so that also ends that situation. Too bad it took posting it here to "inspire" him to do the right thing.......

I will say that I originally posted this thread since the pair was so obviously fake, being offered by a very knowledgeable seller, that it illustrates that mistakes can be made by anyone. Good ebay feedback, good reputations, and good returns policies do not prevent bad listings from happening. Educate yourself, ask questions, and take the time and effort to always look closely at what you are bidding on.
