Hello All, I am a newbie to the site. I am very happy to meet all of you and talk with you all. I have a huge collection of stamps from 1800 to current year. I have a lot US and also every country around the world. I am looking to sell some of them to the right buyer but need a hand in pricing them. There are some other stamps I want to get, but I have to sell some of my doubles to get the money to pay for the others I want. Is there anyone here that could assist me? I have checked a fair bit of my US stamps values through a webste called Hobbizine.com? Has anyone heard of them. It says several of my stamps are very high in value? Any way, contact me if you wish to help. I sure would enjoy talking stamps and learning the values of some of them from live people instead of a computer website that doesn't talk back lol
A somewhat belated WELCOME to the classic US portion of SCF, marine!
Navigating and understanding a pre-assembled collection can be a bit daunting, especially if you have no prior experience or tools for looking at it. You have come to the right place for encouragement.
I sense that you wish to add to parts of the collection, not necessarily all, is that correct? Given some of the questions you have asked, and your presence in this forum, may I assume that US material is presently of some interest to you? To collect or to dispose of?
We can be of better service to you if you clue us in a bit on what kinds of tools you have for studying stamps. Are you able to take a CLOSE look? Do you plan to keep a database? Do you have something to handle the stamps and store them safely? Do you have access to a standard catalog? Are you depending on doing it all from online resources? Stuff like that.
Looking forward to helping you discover this fascinating hobby as you plow into it. Good luck!
Yes, more info would be necessary. Pictures would be great. 19th century stamps from the US, Europe and its colonies tend to have the highest values on average, but there are countless variables involved. A few pictures would be a good place to start.
