You haven't mentioned what the perfs measure. Also, the search function will show quite a few posts asking the same question. Odds are slim to none on rarities. Sitting in an airport at the moment on my I phone but they look like flat plate prints which make them 552's or 632's. If nobody responds by the time I land I will have a better look on a larger monitor. Is there green ink on the backs?

Edited for stupid IPhone auto correct

Both stamps appear to be Scott 552, perf 11 flat plate.

Here are some better pics...The one with the visible cancel mark looks as though though the ink almost went through the back of the stamp. You can see the portrait outline kinda bleeding through. Also, the collector who owned before me had wrote "494" on the back of it, in light pencil. Unfortunately, I don't have a measure yet but will buy one today. I really appreciate all of your help!

Did't need better pictures, the original pictures were all that was needed. The ink you see on the back is the mark of a flat plate print. Also when you save your pictures / scans if you crop the area around the stamp you can supply nice clear scans like this for detail.

A perforation guage will solve 98% of your identification problems. Most any perforation guage will work for 85% of your use, but if you spend a few bucks extra for a better one like the U. S. Specialty Multiguage (http://www.mysticstamp.com/viewProd...sp?sku=ls175) you will never regret it.

The link to Mystic is just a link to a handy picture and an available guage. I do not necessarily recommend them over any other dealer. Other dealers may have the same item at lower cost. I have no connection to Mystic whatsoever.

A black background also works better.
