I really like the boat series of doc.rev. stamps. I have several myself. I find revenues a welcome change every now and again to standard postage stamps. The same goes for most back of book (BOB) stamps. I just don't like the ducks, they get feathers everywhere. Ha! LOL!

Hey now that I think about it that's Cuba related , kind of , sort of , well Spanish American War anyways , I have a few Documentary stamps somewhere ?

Yes the documentary taxes were enacted in 1898 to pay for the Spanish-American War.
The 2c stamps were mainly used on bank checks.

Here is one illegally used to pay postage on an 1898 cover.

Thanks, Larry. I won it on stampwants for a modest sum. Sometimes people pay significant amounts of money for covers showing revenue stamps used as postage and conversely legal documents showing postage stamps used as revenues. These improper usages are really not that uncommon though. People figured a stamp is a stamp and it all goes to the government anyway.
