OK, sorry for wasting your time with my last post. I gave all of you the wrong measurements for my stamps. (I was reading posts about the 696 and either got those measurements stuck in my mind or I have dyslectia. lol But here are the two 1 cent Franklins that measure 19.75 x 22.25 cm. Now, I read the previous posts regarding my first post about a possible booklet stamp for the one, and now understand what first day cover, first flight, and pre-cancelled mean. Thank you for that. But new evidence below so please help me again. They both measure the same so for the sake of taking up space, I only picture the one with measurements. Regarding the picture of the back of the stamp: I read that these stamps were probably stacked with the intent of cutting them when there were enough to monkey with. (Is that a possiblity or am I mixed up AGAIN?) WHAT DO YA ALL THINK NOW? Thanks so much.

I am unable to find any 1 cent Franklin stamp identifed as a flat plate 11 perf., measuring 19.75 x 22.25 cm . Peter, can please you give me an identification of this flat plate Franklin? I searched the Scott Stamp Guide and the internet and find nothing. Thanks in advance.
Scott EDU No. Issued Perf Method Type DesignSize Colors/Varieties Usage 552 1/17/1923 4,015,109,977 11 x 11 flat plate 18.5-19 x 22 pale to deep green; bluish green; double transfer
Peter, the size is significantly bigger than the 552, no?
Blondiebhot, the reason everyone is saying flat plate Scott 552 is because the rotary press stamps have a certain "look" to them -- impression, shade, plate wiping characteristics, etc. -- a look that neither of yours has. If you want to waste some money (none of the expertizing services will take more than a few seconds to identify these stamps,) then send them off for certs. They will come back as 552's (the latter being from a booklet pane, so a Scott 552a single.) You will have spent $50+ for the same opinion you got here (several times now) for free.
BTW, either your measuring device is not well-calibrated, or you're measuring points that are beyond the width of the design. Neither stamp is 19.75 wide (and I say that with a very high degree of confidence. With experience, you can see the aspect ratio difference between flat plate and rotary press at a glance.)
