No other information other than its scheduled for issue on October 9, 2014 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City at 11 AM. Apparently the Batman stamp is being issued in connection with the New York Comic Con Convention. It is included on the "USPS Events Calendar" at this link:

http://about.usps.com/news/events-calendar.htm

It's also mentioned here, by Linn's Stamp News, citing the same source:

USA Today has just posted the first image of one of the new 2014 Batman Stamps slated for issue on October 9, 2014. The article goes onto read that there will be 8 designs in the pane of 20, depicting four eras, from Batman's beginnings in Gotham City in 1939 to the gritty crime fighter of today.

8 designs in the pane of 20...? This probably means that 4 designs will be contained twice, whereas the other 4 thrice.? Or is it 7x2 and 1x6? Rather unusual...

The question has been answered, since the USPS Store's website now has the stamps offered for pre-ordered sales. It seems there will be four (4) vertical stamp designs repeated four times on each row -- but at the beginning of each row there will be a round stamp featuring the Bat Signal -- but in four differently designed images, therefore 8 stamps on a 20 stamp pane. I don't think that's been done before on a US Stamp issue.

And contrary to what's posted on the USPS website, it's not a booklet and not of 5 designs, but a pane and of 8 designs:

Very unique...! I would venture that there will be someone who mistakes the round Bat Signal issue as an envelope flap seal, not realizing that it is in fact a round stamp for posting. Also would think that any collectors who are Comicon (sic) attendees would purchase a couple of extra to obtain available cancellations for their conventions???

My comment about the round "Bat Signal" stamp is that some may confuse it with "Global Forever" International Mail Rate stamps that are always round. Stamp collectors may know the difference, but will casual Batman collectors? It may cause a bit of confusion with the public-at-large.

Depending on how many panes are printed, then each of the circle Bat Signal stamps could become very hard to find in time as individual stamps.

True. Also, for those inclined to purchase Press Sheets (without die cuts) the number will be much less for those varieties, too.

I agree with Acanalizo, that it will be hard to find used examples of the round Bat stamps.

The October 2, 2014 Postal Bulletin confirms that the Batman Stamps will be issued in a quantity of 80 million. The Batman Press Sheets will be limited to 2500 Press Sheets of each variety (with and without die cuts). The technical details also note that the stamps will contain microprinting.

I received two no die cut sheets and as usual two panes were damaged. I will split them into 16 good panes and then use the two other damaged panes on postage to lucky friends.

I note today the no die cut are no longer available at usps. Thus a sell out which makes sense given the Comic Convention ceremony. There are only 22,500 mint singles of the circle bat light stamps out there (9 x 2,500). Quite scarce varieties indeed! Maybe they are still available at usps ebay though?

Thanks. They were not showing at usps earlier or the search engine is quirky. If there are unsold sheets on this issue I will be surprised. But even comic book collectors may find $88 for stamp item a bit much. Some are selling on ebay as single panes of no die cut for about face value which is a better alternative.
