recently one of the ebay sellers I frequent had quite a hoard of revenues with printed cancels and handstamps. Some of you probably followed the items, and although I couldn't afford the big lots, I did happen to receive one of the smaller ones. Nothing really special, but some nice cancellations I'll post pics of soon. There were these singles with parts of the Butler & Carpenter imprints which are cool though. Not sure if they add a premium to their value or not.

They add some value, depending on the exact stamp involved. Far and away the best is the 5 cent express with the plate number. A nice group of "captures" as well.

I agree with revcollector about the 5 cent express. It is a great stamp, southpaw!

Nice Revenue Stamps indeed!

Now for a question: On the blue 2-cent stamp in the second scan, there appears to be some poor printing within the letters "PROP" and "AR" in "PROPRIETARY, also extended into the LL numeral "2". Is this typical of printing anomalies of the day, or are they considered minor varieties?

The paper was a bit dry when the sheet was printed and some of the ink didn't stick. A very minor variety, usually downgrades the stamp unless it is so dry as to really be noticeable on the whole stamp.

Thanks everyone, I thought they were interesting. The R25c will definitely make it into my collection!
