When I was much younger in the 70's I belonged to the Lincoln Society of Philately. Not the current one in England though.

Recently I bought a large collection of pre cancelled Lincolns and discovered they belonged to a past member that passed away 20 years ago. I would have loved to see the rest of his collection. the binders I got are marked number V and VI. Wonder what was in I thru IV?

I have a set of Lincoln Logs - the official publication of the LSP Jan 1971 thru Mar 1978. Anyone out there have any other issues?

Any other Lincoln collectors here?

I'm not a Lincoln collector but I have this site in my favorites. It might interest you. I hope I can post this site.

Hi rumb! Do you collect precanceled? If so, do you collect canceled, unused or mint?

Vinman, thanks for the link. I have added it to my list of references!

Vince,

Thank you for posting the link to the Ainsworth exhibit. It is very instructive to see another rendering of what his collection had held. I have scans of many lots from the auction catalog listing of the collection itself, and had seen another version of the exhibit, but did not have a download of it. Now I have this one and can study it at will. Very helpful.

rumb, Greetings:

And when I was much younger in the 60's, Pony Express covers frequently appeared at public auctions.

As a Recent Returnee, I've been wondering why I see/hear so little about them.

The Frajola site is a gem. Thank you!

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

mudhut,
This is my first adventure in precancels so I am just getting my bearings. I ordered a buro and a city/state catalog. The first part of my collection is used buros, then there is a city/state that is used.At this point I say used as most have no gum. I have a set of 821's that are mint. The collection covers 584, 600 and 635, then 821 , 1036/1058, 1282/1303.
