That is a $300 cancel, which is a reason but I am not aware of any fakes. Very popular cancel and a nice find. |

Our other revenuecollector member uses that particular cancel as an avatar on another stamp forum. |

Can someone do the "srail" test on the linked R13c w/PF cert. Even though cert states "perforation flaws @ bottom"... Looks reperfed to me, not trimmed. |

Based on some comments in other threads about "Buy It Now" listings, I'm guessing that revenuecollector is anticipating some bargaining over the $360 asking price. It's still a great cancel, and I'd love to have it.
Southpaw, finding a stamp like that in a seemingly ordinary stockbook would make my year! |

It's not reperfed, just trimmed. As it happens, the lead expert at the PF collects first issue revenues, and has collected them exclusively for the past 52 years. He has taught me about 90% of what I know about first issue revenues. |

revcollector....still "looks" reperfed to me. The bottom 5-6 perfs on the right..... really look irregular. |

They look fine to me, but people seeing perfs differently is an old story. |

Thanks WT1. If you don't mind I'll take that ad for part of the album page I'll put together! Question - Googling I have not seen all that many come up. A few at auction, the one on ebay for $360. When you are talking cancels, is there any census like the Aldrich census of M&M? Is this cancel just popular or is it truly rare? |

No problem about the ad. I can come up others, too, as Poland's Magic Powder was heavily advertised during that period. As for the fancy cancel, here's a Siegel auction showing that another example was estimated at $150-$200 and realized $375 at a 2003 auction, although I have no idea how the value of such an item may have changed over the past decade or so: http://www.siegelauctions.com/dynam...%208,%202003 |
