Hi all,not sure if this is the right spot for this question,sorry if it's not.My sister found this and would like to know if she should open it or leave it sealed? Also would like to know if it has any value? She paid $2.00. All in put welcome. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi John1......

These types of kits are produced by the USPS to promote collecting. It's basically a starter collection. It is collectible as it is or it could be opened and used......the choice is your sisters...there are no rules....no wrong way to collect.

All collectors are free to create their own collections as they wish.

As for value.....$2.00 is a fair price for this starter collection.

I have a few that are still sealed though I couldn't tell you why. I like buying those sets for one reason or another though they really don't go up that much in value for those years. I have thought about opening them and start using the stamps on the letters that I am sending out for trades.

They are nice kits to open and mount or to keep as is.

I have a few of the sets also which I have kept intact. I agree with notrare there is no right or wrong thing here, it is up to your sister . Nice find for a few dollars buy the way , proves it always pays to look
