Hey Everyone

I Finally found a Stamp Club and went to my first meeting tonight. There were 16 people including myself and they made me feel very welcome. It was circuit night and I had first hand experience of how they work. I bought a few stamps that I knew I missing for my Canadian Collection. I also bought a Unitrade catalogues for Canadian Stamps for $12.00. It's a 2007 but I really need it for the earlier years anyhow.

They seem like a great bunch of guys and gals. I learned a few things about errors and varieties from the guy sitting next to me.

Dianne

Glad you had fun at the meeting Diane. Ours used to meet every two weeks but now it is once a month.
Just can not wait till the next one. How often do you all meet at your club.
Did they have a auction lot, seems about half of our meeting lately is time spent on auction lots.
Have fun at your next one and spread the word on SCF.

Good on Dianne... Clubs can be a great boon if you find a good one. We have a good bunch and meet once a month. We have the most problems putting together programs that have broad appeal. No one wants to speak up as to desires. They either do not wish to have to participate by sharing their knowledge or they are afraid to expose their weaknesses. I'd be interested in hearing program ideas from other clubs....

Our club meetings are fairly quiet. The most we get of someone speaking up is when a guest is there and we ask what brought them and their interests. We regularly have APS slide show presentations, our own blue books to check out, and silent auctions. We have an annual stamp bourse with a show cancel & cover. We have an attendance drawing which goes up $1 for every month the person drawn is not present(it pays to come), and we have a 50/50 drawing with half going to the club and the other half going to the person's number being drawn from raffle tickets. Also, there are nickel boxes for on and off paper stamps. We meet once a month. We have over 40 members and on average there are around 20 regulars. We also have an annual club dinner and anyone whom has attended 10 of the 12 meetings doesn't have to pay. We regularly put a free public notice in the local paper regarding the place, time, and program for the meeting. Hopefully, we may be getting more exposure because of the Lincoln stamps and our club covers. I hope this helps anyone.

This club meets every two weeks from September to May(or maybee June)
One of the members I actually knew: she's a client of mine at the Nursery, small world eh. The members were very welcoming and most seemed eger to share their expertise. Others were quiet and just looked through the circuit books.

They hold Auctions every 3rd meeting. And have a show sometime in the Spring I can't wait.

I'll start promoting the forum slowly next meeting. I did mention it to a couple of guys tonight but didn't give any details.

Dianne

Glad you found a nice club, Dianne!
I drove around looking for the Chelmsford Stamp club meeting last night.
They moved it to a new church, and I couldn't find it.
