I picked up this Scott 24 on piece years ago. I got it because the franking looked cool even though the Scott 26 appears to have been torn at time of posting and someone cut the ten cent stamp ( I don't understand why you would ever do this! ) I still thought it is neat enough to share... Does anyone know what rate this combo would have been used for?

If there were two 10-cent stamps originally this could have been from a Maine to England cover (prepaying the 24-cent rate).

The trouble with items on piece is that you never know what you are missing. How can you reconstruct a rate, destination, mode of handling, route or anything from what you don't see? Was it a letter or parcel?
