Thanks, Tom. They are nice, never hinged, but some old-timer
penciled in the catalog numbers on the backs of both.

You might be able to erase the marks with a 'pink pearl' eraser without damaging the gum.

It's a smudge free eraser similar to the pink eraser on a pencil , just make sure it's clean and hasn't hardened or you might get a smudge mark .
